UNEX Ord Technician I
Title: UNEX Ord Technician I Location: FL: FLORIDA-WEST PALM BEACH Initial training will be held in West Palm Beach Florida. Ultimately this position is located on Andros Island in the Bahamas.
Responsible for performing handling, preparation, post run and transport of exercise torpedoes and associated equipment in accordance with NAVAIR/NAVSEA/NAVFAC guidelines on the AUTEC project.
Essential Job Functions
* Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair on exercise torpedoes (MK-46/MK-50 REXTORP's, MK-48, MOD 4, 5, 6, 7 and MK-46, 54 EXTORP's) and associated equipment in accordance with NAVAIR/NAVSEA guidelines. * Operate tractor-trailer, forklift, and overhead cranes per NAVFAC guidelines. * Conduct rigging operations of heavy equipment per NAVFAC standards. * Handle, package, transport hazardous ordnance material up to 1.1 per NAVORD standards. * Operate torpedo data extraction computer per NAVSEA standards. * Operate and maintain the breathing air system in support of the torpedo operations. * Perform other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications
* High school graduate or equivalent. * Two (2) or more years related experience working in a torpedo shop environment or locally obtained certification in forklift, tractor-trailer, and overhead crane operations. * One (1) year electronics technology experience or locally obtained certification in REXTORP preps and weapon data extractions. * Valid Drivers License and passport will be required.
Must meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain the required government security clearance.
Other Qualifications
* Excellent communication skills to interface with all levels of personnel in a multi-cultural team-oriented environment. * Attention to detail. * Good personal computer and Microsoft Office products skill with emphasis on Word. * Analytical skills to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems. * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.
