Responsibilities:
The Unix System Administrator is responsible for designing, configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and analyzing problems associated with UNIX hardware and software, networking and associated peripherals. They must have a very good knowledge of practices for the repair of hardware, loading of software, configuration of operating system parameters and configuration of associated peripherals.
Qualifications:
Required Skills/Competencies:
* Good understanding of the AIX operating system. * Good understanding of Oracle Database and networking. * Ability to install and configure UNIX servers without any assistance. * Assists with documentation of associated procedures. * Works with customers to clearly identify and resolve complaints and concerns * Follows pre-established standards and guidelines to complete assigned tasks * Understanding of bits, bytes, megabytes, gig, and tera units and familiarity with system benchmarking measures and peripheral devices. * Understanding of what firmware and operating system patches are. * Understanding of backing up and restoring software * Understanding of Cluster Technology on UNIX Servers (i.e. HACMP , Symantec (Veritas) and Oracle RAC) * Good understanding of Shell Scripting * Good understanding of Network Installation Manager for AIX Servers * Work closely with Oracle DBA and Web support group to design layout and implement Oracle database solutions provide AIX system support to manage system storage, backup and recovery of the Oracle database environment, as well as assisting in disaster recovery activities when required. * Experience in administration in the support of the NetApp storage environments
