Responsibilities:
Position Summary: The Technology Operations group is responsible for the installation and maintenance of computer systems in the Corporate Data Center and Product Development Labs. These systems include physical machines, i.e. UNIX servers, SAN/NAS disk arrays, x86 servers, etc, as well as virtual machines.
The Information Systems Engineer is expected to work with management, internal customers as well as vendors to design, implement and troubleshoot computer systems used throughout Compuware. The Engineer is expected to learn new technologies, hardware and software, very quickly and without formal training and be able to build and implement systems with these technologies.
Qualifications:
Primary Roles/Responsibilities: * Installation, configuration and maintenance of Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, Linux and Windows machines. * Installation and configuration of numerous middleware components on varying operating systems. * Installation and instance creation of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS). * Problem determination and resolution of hardware/software and performance problems. * Assist Product Development in machine/software configuration. * Research/learn about new developments that are occurring in the UNIX Server Environment. * Develop test and document both local and remote disaster recovery procedures. * Prepare training material for operations staff and users. * Research developments in storage management. Required Skills/Competencies: * Extensive experience with NFS. * Extensive experience with Sun Solaris, HP-UX, AIX and Linux Operating Systems. * Significant experience with NIS/NIS+. * Significant experience in Perl and Shell scripting. * Significant experience with TCP/IP, DHCP and WINS. * Significant experience in the installation and instance creation of multiple RDBMS systems. * Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently. * Motivated self starter with the ability to work both independently and with a team * Open to new ideas and willing to learn new technologies. * Effective written and oral communication skills.
Desired Skills/Competencies: * Experience with SAP, Siebel, BEA, Sybase, DB2, Peoplesoft, Tivoli and HP Openview installations. * Experience with Oracle Database and Application server. * Experience with Network Appliance Hardware and Software. * Knowledge of UNIX System Imaging solutions. * Experience with VMWare ESX/vSphere and Lab Manager.
