Description
Provide software development expertise in support of mission-critical software products and projects by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Analyze, design, construct, and maintain software products / projects while adhering to established development standards, procedures, and tools. * Learn new skills and work with team members as required to complete the above duties. * Conduct unit and system testing to ensure that deliverables are complete and accurate. * Support other groups within the organization (Sales, Customer Support, and Implementation) as needed. * Other duties may be assigned to support the organization and its goals. QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Experience with SQL and relational database design * Experience with Java languages * Experience with large-scale software systems (100’s of modules, 100k+ lines of code) * Ability to work well in a team environment DESIRED OPTIONAL SKILLS: * Experience with electricity and/or natural gas markets * Expertise with Oracle PL-SQL * Exposure to Agile Development practices * Development of 24/7 Production Software Systems
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Four-year college or university degree program/certificate in Computer Science (or related field like Computer Engineering) is preferred; and/or six to nine years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. * Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. * Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: * Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts - primarily calculus and linear algebra. REASONING ABILITY: * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. * Demonstrated exceptional design / construction / and debug skills. * Strong object-oriented analysis skills, knowledge of programming patterns, and relational database design / ORM skills. * Demonstrated ability to reverse-engineer and debug unfamiliar code. * Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Work as a team player with a solution-oriented outlook supporting the software product development process as a whole.
