Job Description
Job Title: Senior Programmer Analyst
Department: IS Software Development
Reports To: Director, Software Development
Position Summary:
The Senior Programmer Analyst within our IS Software Development Client/Server Group is responsible for designing and developing high performance data integration and workflow solutions. This includes extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) operations for data warehousing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop programs. Demonstrate a proficiency in at least one of the programming languages.
Convert designs and specifications into computer programs following programming standards and best practices.
Create test scenarios and run tests to find errors and confirm computer programs meet specifications.
Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise code.
Perform analysis and design.
Coordinate meetings and interactions with the business users to define requirements.
Participate in the analysis, definition and documentation of requirements
Lead the creation and documentation of solution designs that are in-line with the existing Healthfirst technical environment
Manage Projects. Maintain project status and related documentation. Coordinate project related activities, including planning timelines, scheduling meetings, coordinating resources, and tracking performance.
Test and Document. Perform testing and review of code and related documentation as required.
Support production of the applications. Monitor performance of production applications and provide necessary support. Provide technical assistance by responding to inquiries from others regarding errors, problems or questions about programs. Train any required technical support staff to use, test, and support programs.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Deployment. Create deployment packages and deployment related documentation. Facilitate the transition of programs from development into production.
Research and evaluate software and hardware to enhance the development environment and process.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or related major from a 4-year college or university. Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
- Work Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience in a WinForms environment a must!
- Technical Skills:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic SQL Server Analysis Services (SSRS); advanced SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Winforms, Visual and SQL/TSQL.
Experience delivering solutions with MS SQL Server 2008 - Experience with requirements gathering, analysis & design of ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), multi-dimensional databases & OLAP cubes
- Experience with Visual Studio 2008
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, client groups, and/or Healthfirst user community.
- Ability to analyze codes and application programs.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, incentives, surcharges, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Knowledge of ProClarity, MDX, MS Sharepoint, or BizTalk and iSeries.
