Video Editor
Editors at HBO will: - Editors are expected to work closely with HBO producers to create top-quality promotional, sports and other types of content for HBO/Cinemax air as well as other linear and non-linear platforms. - Provide creative input to enhance aesthetics of the content and projects being produced. - Ensure all content adheres to HBO specifications.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Candidates must be able to creatively enhance each job while delivering technically flawless content, working with minimal supervision or closely with a writer/producer or creative. - Expertise in the Avid product line includes; ISIS, Media Composer, Symphony, Assist, Access, and Interplay. - A thorough understanding of media management and file-based workflow in a high definition Post Production environment. - Ability to understand and work with various video resolution tools and knowledge base is required. - Experience with Photoshop and After Effects is strongly preferred. - Candidates must also possess a good eye for color correction and sound mixing abilities for use with available tools in Avid. - Strictly adhere to all HBO guidelines regarding media management, asset naming conventions and required documentation and adapt to necessary changes when required. - Attend all staff meetings and collaborate with production teams. - Work with Engineering, Media Management and Post Production Management teams to find solutions to day-to-day issues.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Experience in FinalCutPro, and Sapphire plug-ins is preferred. Knowledge of archive and near-line storage procedures is a plus. - Stay current with file based technology including cameras, and encoding (including software) - Assist in the evaluation of new technologies. May need to attend seminars and meet with vendors to develop innovative solutions for team. - Make recommendations and identify inefficiencies - Knowledge of specific hardware including but not limited to internal drives, memory, A/V cards and installation - Basic knowledge of operating systems and supporting files with peripheral connectivity
