Title: VSAT System Technician/Electronic Technician II Location: Kuwait Req Number: SD-CIS-17106 Position Description: POSITION SUMMARY: The successful candidate will be assigned to maintain the AT&T phone centers located at various US Military bases across the country of Kuwait. Primarily the candidate will maintain the microwave and cable links that connect the phone centers to the main satellite hub. The candidate will ensure that all phone cabling within the center is installed properly and that all phones are in working order. The candidate will also work with an associate and interface with the US Military and the Kuwait Ministry of Defense technicians who maintain some of the interconnecting microwave links.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES: 1. Install and align a 3 meter satellite antenna 2. Install and program microwave RF units, associated microwave modems and channel banks. Perform on-site maintenance and corrective maintenance on communications equipment 3. Install telephone shelters. Perform internal wiring for phone sets 4. Maintain air conditioners for shelter 5. Performs other duties and assignments as required MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED: 3.0 meter antennas, Netrix 2210, Adtran and CCS channel banks, EFDATA modems, SSPA, LNA, Anacom transceivers, Protel telephones, installation wiring WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: 1. Must be able to lift/push/pull 50 lbs. 2. Candidates must be aware that living and traveling within the country of Kuwait can be dangerous. Experience Requirements: Education: Associate's degree or equivalent. Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working with VSAT systems in the Middle East. Qualified candidates should have experience working with 3.0 meter antennas with the ability to erect, align and maintain the antennas. Experience working with Intelsat or other space segment provider is desired and should be qualified to perform SSOG tests, including antenna alignment and cross-pole alignment. Experience working with various types of BUCs, LNAs, and transceivers is highly desired. A working knowledge of telephone communications consisting of the phone set, channel banks, multiplex equipment, satellite equipment; experience of wiring of this equipment and utilizing wiring color codes. A working knowledge of AC/DC power, including generator and air conditioning maintenance required. Qualified candidate will be required to be a self starter and team player.
