Job Description:
The Business Systems Analyst works with some supervision on moderate to complex projects, or independently on one or more projects of low to moderate complexity. The Business Systems Analyst contributes to the identification of IT solution alternatives, elicits and documents business and functional requirements that meet the needs of internal and external customers, and assists with functional and user acceptance testing.
Knowledge and Responsibilities:
The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for creating and managing the detailed written business and functional requirements for moderate to complex projects under the guidance of a Lead Business Systems Analyst or Project Leader, or with some independence on one or more projects of low to moderate complexity. Written requirements must adhere to established standards and procedures.
Responsibilities include:
- developing detailed, clear business and functional requirements
- creating and maintaining a requirements traceability matrix
- managing the requirements change control process
- participating in peer and team reviews of requirements documentation
- creating iRise visualizations as necessary
- writing accurate meeting minutes.
The Business Systems Analyst must record, report, manage and escalate action items, risks and issues associated to the project.
The Business Systems Analyst must interact with a wide variety of staff including business users, application developers, architects, and project managers.
The desired candidates should have an understanding of Supply Chain Management/Logistics, preferably in the areas of warehousing and transportation logistics. Knowledge of UPS services and the transportation industry is also desired.
The Business Systems Analyst should be detail oriented and comfortable in a deadline-driven environment. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written are necessary.
The Business Systems Analyst must have good elicitation skills and be able to understand the essential business processes and nature of the business problem to be solved and participate in developing alternative solutions and describing the alternatives. Must possess good negotiation and presentation skills and participate in conflict resolution.
The Business Systems Analyst should be familiar with various modeling techniques such as Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) and tools such as Visio. Prior business analysis and development of requirement definition / functional requirements and requirements traceability matrix is desired. Experience or academic experience in these areas as applicable.
