In support of our online properties, the Web Developer I will work as a key member of the Technical Ad Production team. The Web Developer will have a wide range of technical testing responsibilities, and is a key stakeholder in the ad serving workflow. They primarily will creation of efficient, reusable, and scalable templates using web technologies such as Javascript (and JQuery), HTML, CSS, Tea (a proprietary server-side scripting language), and Ajax. They perform a crucial part in the development of new online advertising products within a third party ad serving system, testing those products pre and post launch, providing metrics and evaluating how those products impact our end users across different platforms, and ultimately communicating status to multiple groups including Traffickers and Account Managers on a daily basis.
QA responsibilities include the daily testing of advertising products for functionality and site impact across many of our digital properties that span online, display, mobile and video. Examples of products can include expandable banners, integrated video ads, dynamically generated flash ads and a variety of other challenging ad integrations. Troubleshooting techniques can include the use of online and desktop tools, as well as creating advanced automated tested procedures. They will also need to create workflows for recording testing results and aggregate them into comprehensive reports. A successful Web Developer candidate will be able to identify and fix problem points in HTML, Flash, JavaScript, XML, and CSS, and communicate changes to appropriate groups. The Web Developer will be tasked with leading QA initiatives around new technology and providing direction around a specific platform within the Technical Ad Production group.
In addition, the Web Developer will act as a lead consultant for all ad production issues during site redesigns, new ad integrations or proposals, or other site changes which may occur on a wide range of our digital platforms including mobile. This position will offer final troubleshooting support for existing ad products, and will also act as a point of escalation for Traffickers and Account Managers. The Web Developer position will help lead initiatives towards documenting QA strategies and best practices, and conducting research on current advertising QA methodologies and general web technologies. The Web Developer may also be called upon to conduct training sessions with Traffickers and Account Managers regarding new technologies.
Responsibilities
Takes part in the development and maintenance of multiple Ads related products and projects.
Participates in the creation of efficient, reusable, and scalable templates using web technologies such as Javascript (and JQuery), HTML, CSS, Tea (a proprietary server-side scripting language), and Ajax.
This position will collaborate and coordinate project tasks between site engineers, designers, editorial, producers, sales marketing, QA, and business stakeholders.
Will work within the team that responds to internal and external advertising client and agency needs.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum 6 months of experience in the internet or media design industries, specifically in web development, on a site production team, or technical QA team Proficient with HTML, Javascript, XML, CSS, and ActionScript
Proficient working with online and desktop based web troubleshooting tools
Familiarity with web-based video technologies
Well organized and detail oriented
Excellent technical writing and verbal skills
High level of troubleshooting and problem solving skills across multiple platforms
Experience working with and developing testing methodologies
Ability to leverage technical knowledge, intake information from multiple groups and effectively make high pressure decisions affecting revenue
Ability to communicate advanced or complicated technical concepts clearly
Ability to cultivate sales and client relationships
Patience to train and mentor less experienced staff regarding process, tools and techniques
Effective project management skills with proven ability to work with various groups to reach a common goal
Potential to maintain a positive attitude and to multi-task under strict deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with mobile applications and software development kits a plus
Experience with the DoubleClick ad serving platform or a similar ad trafficking tool preferred
Marketing and advertising industry knowledge a plus
Required Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in multimedia and/or technical degree required
