Web Developer
Our Toronto client is seeking a Web Developer for a 6 month contract to start.
Role-Specific Accountabilities
Application Development and Support
Design and develop new applications using a variety of technologies (Java, Matlab, MSSQL/Oracle, Kdb+, C#) and frameworks (SEAM, JSF, some .NET)
Assume responsibility for software design, development and deployment as projects exit the research phase and transition into system development and integration
Collaborate with the combined development and business team to establish and communicate development schedules and manage stakeholder expectations throughout delivery
Establish and maintain an effective relationship as a trusted advisor on the technology solutions required to achieve project and operational objectives
Assist with investment systems research and prototyping activities by providing technical guidance and development assistance.
Provide responsive business assistance while adhering to processes required for quality enterprise-level software development and support
Assist in the on-going development and maintenance of a wiki shared knowledge base
Skills/Knowledge/Competencies/Capabilities
An undergraduate degree - preferably in Computer Science or Engineering, with experience in software development, architecture and possibly business analysis
Proficiency with a variety of development languages including Java and related development tools including Maven, Eclipse, Hudson
Above average communication, critical thinking and relationship management skills, with an ability to naturally influence others and sell ideas effectively
Strong service orientation; a track record of responsiveness to business needs within a disciplined agile environment.
Commitment to guiding principles of integrity, partnership and high performance
Desirable Experience
Experience with Kdb+ or Matlab is an asset
Experience in a Team Lead or Client Management role is an asset
Experience in a quantitative financial services environment and/or interest in pursuing investment education designations such as CSC, CFA are highly desirable
