Search types work together with the keywords entered to build an appropriate search request. Pay close attention to the way each search type works as they can all yield different results for the same keywords.
Boolean Search. This search type is used for building a logically structured search string of the keywords and/or phrases. The results of the search will be based on the words entered in the KEYWORDS field and the logical operators included. The KEYWORDS field may include one or more logical operators. A list of the support logical operators is listed below along with a couple examples.
Logical Operators | |
AND | Used for requiring multiple keywords or phrases in search criteria |
OR | Used for searching multiple keywords or phrases at the same time |
We do our best to highlight the keywords you entered in your search when you are reviewing the details of each job. Please note that the highlighting is not part of the search mechanism itself and is not always perfect due to the complexity of some of the search types available. If you find job results that don't have any keywords highlighted, it does not necessarily mean that the result is not valid.
Ignore words are words that are too general for a search (a, an, as, etc.) and therefore are excluded from the job index. When ignored words are included among the keywords they will not be considered by our searching mechanism and in some cases can actually result in unexpected results. They include: a, an, and, are, as, at, be, but, by, for, if, in, is, no, not, of, on, or, such, that, the, their, then, there, these, they, this, to, was and with.
