Big International Energy Firms Offer Opportunities for Recent Grads

Looking to start your career in the utilities industry? In these tough times, you might consider starting on the ground floor of a big international company. Check out this list of top graduate employers in utilities and energy:
 
ExxonMobil. The world’s leading publicly owned energy company is active in offshore oil and gas exploration, as well as production, refining, manufacturing petrochemicals, and petrol retailing. They’re looking for engineering talent in refining and chemicals, production and IT.
 
British Gas. Part of the Centrica Group, which sources, generates, processes, trades and stores energy, British Gas is looking for talent in oil and gas exploration, development and production, processing, electricity generation, storage, renewable energy and commercial activities.
 
Npower. Engaged in the generation, trading, transmission and supply of electricity and gas (using fossil fuel and renewable energy sources), Npower needs graduates in engineering/professional science, information systems, business analysis, sales, marketing, customer operations, finance and quantitative risk.
 
BP. With over 80,300 employees worldwide, BP is one of the world’s largest energy companies and active in 30 countries. It’s looking for tech talent in locating, extracting, moving and processing oil and gas. It’s also actively engaged in developing alternative energy technologies.
 
Shell. A global consortium of energy and petrochemical companies, Shell seeks tech talent in everything from process engineering to petrophysics and well engineering to geology.
 
TOTAL. This company is heavily involved in oil exploration and the production, trading, shipping, refining and marketing of petroleum products. They’re looking for engineering graduates in a variety of sub-disciplines.
