What's been your best job and why? Well that is hard to answer in a way. I am in a field where I love my job and my industry. I wake up every morning with the anticipation of a new day at my job. I must say though, this particular position that I am in now is my best job. I have the opportunity to apply what I have measured and learned in my career. This is also an opportunity to give back to the community and those that are willing to learn.

What do you think is the number one non-IT skill IT professionals need today? Self mastery this is vital. Unless we have a handle on this continually, self failure is inevitable. What do you credit your career success to? My father and mother for the initial foundation of my walk and their belief in me. My friend Victor Blumberg for being a mentor at the beginning. To those that I work with now: Kenneth Dublin (CEO), Lisa Brister (Director of Student Services), Kevin Polk (Student Liaison Officer). Then last, but not least, is my wife Laura for her support and continual steadfastness and my beautiful daughter Morrigan Cheyenne, who is my reason for living and success. What are the top three skills a high-level IT manager needs today? Proficiency in Microsoft platforms, Linux platforms, infrastructure, a "yearn to learn," and strong leadership skills that include good listening skills and self mastery. What's your favorite IT resource site and why? Well there are many. I use Technet, Microsoft, Linux I also Use InformationWeek the most it carries up to date information and link help. What is the best career advice you've ever received? It was from my father: "If you don't make a plan in life then you plan to fail in your life." Another one is from the movie Shawshank Redemption: "You can get busy living or get busy dying," which I interpret as no matter what you don't let anyone, anything, or any situation sour your drive, focus, vision, passion or plan. What's the top advice you'd give to a new IT staffer? This is your life and your walk. What will you do with your gifts? Get busy living or get busy dying. What would you advise someone looking to find the type of role you currently have? Well first you must love what you do. Make a plan, follow that plan. Make achievable goals. Strive for perfection and you will fall short and be an honorable man. And to not forget who helped get them there and be thankful for God's grace and patience with you and do the same for others. What is the one career decision you would change if you could? With every decision that I have made I used to look at life like that. What would I change? Well I do not look at life like that anymore. I believe that we make the choices that are necessary for us at the time in our life. Even the bad ones, there is something that we needed to learn and grow from. All this is part of Self Mastery. There are 2 ways in life. 1 The easy way. 2 The hard way. We as humans always choose the hard way. I believe that this is inevitable and is necessary for our own self Mastery. If you had the choice to jump into any other job, tech or non-tech, what would it be? It would be this type of work, or the owner or co-owner of a Fortune 500 IT/IS company.
