The world continually revolves and so do changes in job and career fields. In the past, if you were in a technical career you were basically considered being in IT. The lines were pretty cut and dried. Well, times have changed and so has technology.

Technical fields are part of everything we do today – including the computer and computer program I am using to write this. The range of technical fields is very diverse. As a technologist, you could be working in the aerospace industry assisting with anything from power issues to electronics and computers. You could be working in the agricultural industry. Farming has changed from the days of our Grandparents plowing their fields. Now technology is used in farming and agriculture to help produce more food and find ways to bring about changes in water and power usage.

You could use technical skills in the construction industry whether highway construction, building houses or any other type of construction. Your skills will be needed in changing equipment to how office buildings are erected.

You could have a career in engineering technology working on conserving the environment to creating better healthcare equipment to safety issues. Everything in our society today is pointing to conservation – to recycling, reusing products and reducing waste. Technology is going to be the key in advancing our conservation attempts. Technology is responsible for allowing faster access to medical records to assist our EMTs in giving proper medical care on the scene.

These are just a few areas. Think about the places in your life where technology is used – starting with your car and your cell phone. Technology is everywhere today. The career fields are not as cut and dried as they were even ten years ago. Technology will continue to evolve as the world changes. This is a great time to get on the band wagon!
