    Job Description

    Join HII - Mission Technologies and make a difference by joining us as a Data Scientist Intern for Summer 2024. The Data Scientist Internship is a temporary position within HII - Mission Technologies which prepares a college student for entry into the workforce by providing emphasis on training in development, testing, and implementation of data solutions for defense applications.

    The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in AI/ML, data analysis, testing, and implementation.

    Permanent US work authorization without the need for sponsorship now, or in the future is also required.

    Essential Job Responsibilities

    • Assist in the analysis and documentation of software requirements and specifications.

    • Collaborate with the engineering team to the design, development and testing of software solutions for defense-related projects.

    • Support the creation of technical documentation, including software design documents, user manuals and test plans.

    • Participate in code reviews and provide valuable insights and recommendations for software improvements.

    • Assist in the identification ad resolution of software-related technical issues and bugs.

    • Conduct regular testing and validation of software solutions to ensure compliance with industry stands and project requirements.

    • Conduct regular assessments and tests to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and project requirements.

    • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education

    • High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree with more than 60% of the required credits completed.

    • Preference for Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Computer Engineering or similar degrees.

    • Minimum requirement of a cumulative 3.0 GPA while participating in this internship.

    Skills

    • Strong academic performance with a focus on courses related to software development, algorithms, and programing languages.

    • Solid understanding of software engineering principles, and best practices, with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical applications.

    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, etc.

    • Familiarity with software development tools and environments (e.g., Git, JIRA, Agile methodologies, etc.)

    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner.

    • Knowledge of defense-related technology and understanding of relevant regulations and compliance standards is a plus.

    Physical Requirements

    Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
