    WSP, an award winning and innovative multi-disciplinary consulting firm, is looking for an Architectural Designer to join our team in Portland, ME . Be involved in projects with our Buildings Architecture and Engineering Teams and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

    Develops design and construction documents working with multi-disciplinary project teams from concept design through completion of construction. The position offers varied projects locally and nationally, including building planning studies, renovations, and new construction for Federal and State office buildings, museums, and visitor facilities; healthcare facilities; industrial and commercial office space, warehouses, and maintenance facilities; and high-security government facilities. Our architects and engineers collaborate with WSP design professionals throughout the country. Talent and diligence are essential in meeting our client's objectives, goals and challenges.     You Impact

    • Develop 2D and 3D architectural presentation graphics, design, construction drawings with oversight and direction from senior staff.

    • Support studies and design development for a wide variety of facilities though the entire project life cycle.

    • Visit project sites to assess and document existing conditions and/or attend client meetings alongside project staff.

    • Conduct code analyses, author reports, and develop aspects of technical architectural design under direction of a Senior Architect.

    • Research and select products and finishes.

    • Work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

    • Adhere to our project delivery standards, including self-checking work prior to quality control reviews, to ensure a high quality of work is consistently delivered.

    • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

    • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

    Who You Are

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in an Architecture, Interior Design, or related field.

    • 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience.

    • Proficient in current digital modeling applications including Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite.

    • Demonstrated BIM experience in developing construction drawings.

    • Basic knowledge of construction materials and construction drawing standards.

    • Competency in technical aspects of facility design, from programming through construction services.

    • Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills.

    • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.

    • Capable of taking direction from senior staff, mentors, and managers to execute projects.

    • Interest to work in support of engineering-driven projects as well as architecturally driven projects.

    • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

    • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Enrolled in NCARB's AXP program/pursuing architectural registration or pursing NCIDQ certification.

    • Green Building Certification, LEED and/or WELL Accredited Professional.

    • Office design, healthcare, and/or higher-education experience.

    • State, local, and federal government experience.
