    Associate Chief Medical Information Officer

    • The Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer (Associate CMIO) for will be responsible for assisting the CMIO and Informatics Medical Directors in general clinical informatics services to the BayCare Health System.

    • The incumbent will be under the broad direction of the CMIO and department leadership, supporting the organization in the design, development, and implementation of clinical information systems that assist physicians, all other clinicians, and clinical support personnel in the delivery of clinical services.

    • The incumbent will serve as an advocate of patients, medical faculty and clinical staff, administration, senior leadership, and the information systems teams in promoting the safe and effective use of information technology in all clinical settings.

    • The Associate CMIO serves as a physician champion and physician leader for all major clinical information and informatics efforts.

    • Has broad responsibilities overseeing and collaboratively developing strategy, guiding annual goal setting, and prioritizing institutional effort within and across all domains of clinical informatics.

    • Specific job responsibilities include:

    • Directs and participates in physician activities associated with the development, implementation, and optimization of clinical information tools and processes.

    • Leads the clinical decision support team and activities related to CDS.

    • Works one on one educating physicians in the use of new and existing BayCare Clinical IT systems.

    • Reports to CMIO and directly collaborates with SVP/CIO.

    • Has detailed knowledge of the clinical processes and system workflows of a hospital and health care system

    • Understands multi-hospital governance relationships and works well in a matrix environment achieving established goals and objectives.

    • Leads team in long-term efforts, projects and/or committees and large organizational governance.

    • Assesses information and knowledge needs of health care professionals and patients.

    • Characterizes, evaluates, and refines clinical processes.

    • Leads or participates in the procurement, customization, development, implementation, management, evaluation, and continuous improvement of clinical information systems such as electronic health records and order-entry systems.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Educational Required

    • MD/DO or equivalent

    Work Experience

    • Minimum 3 years experience working specifically in a healthcare informatics leadership role.

    • Minimum 3 years general leadership experience with evidence of leading complex change and people within an organization.

    • 3-5 years of successful collaboration with executives and physician colleagues required.

    • 3-5 years of expertise sought includes project management and change management

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Broad based knowledge of Healthcare IT applications which support clinician documentation and order entry, and the Electronic Medical Record.

    • Specific knowledge in medical informatics practices and principles, as well as quality improvement practices and principles.

    • Working knowledge of information technology, including statistical analysis, clinical epidemiology, and medical informatics;

    • Understanding of clinical IT and informatics best practices and how to successfully introduce information technology into clinical practice.
