  • Position Summary

    MAG is looking for certified A&P personnel to perform maintenance on two Global 6500 aircraft in support of the United States Army's ATHENA-R program.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties include, but not limited to:

    • The Avionics Technician II will work under minimal to self-direction under a Lead or Manager following intermediate engineering drawings & schematics to install, repair and/or modify electrical/ avionic (Communications-Navigation, Instruments, etc.)

    • Performs operational checks, bench checks troubleshoots and isolates malfunctions in complex aircraft systems and subsystems avionics equipment.

    • Tests avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, IFR 4000/IFR 6000, and circuit analyzers.

    • Calibrates installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.

    • Annotates maintenance actions in aircraft records. Works with customer, engineering, and other technicians to troubleshoot avionics/ electronic malfunctions by necessary correspondence to resolve and provide information for corrective action(s).

    • Performs Avionics system and component Pre/Post maintenance operational checks.

    • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and inspections in accordance with manufacturers and FAA recommended and mandatory instructions.

    • Assists/ leads in the final checkout of new installations or the modification of aircraft avionic systems and components. Reads and interprets manufacture's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data and other specifications.

    • Assists with the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters the maintenance records description of the work performed. Has thorough knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, tools and procedures within the commercial/ military aviation field.

    • Receives technical guidance, as required, from Manager or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Meet goals and objectives by successful installations and/ or repairs per engineering drawings/ schematics and various requirements.

    • Responsible for the fabrication of wiring, parts, sub-assemblies and installations and/ or repairs to structure and avionics systems. Ensure that appropriate levels of Quality and compliance are met for all assigned work in a timely and cost-effective manner. Provides fabrication and technical support to peers as required.

    • Perform manufacturing and maintenance activities for the effective management of organizational goals and objectives, configuration and document controls, work package execution, standard metrics within the department, and product quality.

    • Interface with all departments to ensure cooperative effort. CONUS travel to customer locations required. Perform other qualified duties as assigned to include general hangar activities such as aircraft towing, weight and balance, etc.

    • Prior ISR operational support experience is required. Working ability to interpret schematic diagrams, engineering drawings and charts of assigned systems is required.

    • Candidate should be highly knowledgeable in advanced electronic principles and circuit analysis.

    • Must possess advanced ability to trace signal flow, understand interrelationships of circuits, interpret waveforms and voltages.

    • Must have excellent soldering and harness/ wiring skills, PC board, surface mount and crimping experience.

    • Must possess an advanced knowledge of all standard test equipment, technical publications, and maintenance procedures. Must be able to operate autonomously to perform individual tasks and assignments.

    • Must establish and maintain effective work relationships and as well as interface daily with the customer for feedback on operation and issue support for the Special Mission Equipment.

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Must be a US Citizen

    • Active Secret Security Clearance

    • Have and maintain a valid US Passport

    • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate

    • Performing FAR Part 91-411 & 91-413 checks and recertification of altimeters/ encoding and transponder

    Education:

    • Completion of high school or equivalent (2-year technical trade school) and/or U.S. military technical schools or specialized training course.

    • 2+ years of actual and recent avionics maintenance/ troubleshooting experience on equipment typically installed on general aviation aircraft. (. i.e. Garmin, Bendix King, Honeywell/Collins Radios)

    DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:

    • A valid FCC License with radar endorsement.

    • Broad technical structure experience

    • Bombardier Global 5000/6000/6500 experience.
