    Your Opportunity

    The role of a Civil/Structural EIT or Designer is to work as a team member on small and large projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. The Civil/Structural EIT or Designer will work under close supervision of a Senior Engineer to assist on plans and designs of civil/structural engineering projects such as highways, bridges and other transportation structures.

    Your Key Responsibilities

    • Perform basic calculations to analyze and design components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.

    • Assist team in preparing designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports, and gather information to support design decisions.

    • Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/designer

    • Assist in basic interpretation and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.

    • Assist the team in providing support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information and contract document clarifications.

    • Utilizes relevant software programs to prepare working drawings. Continues to develop skills using software programs for design and/or drafting (MicroStation/ORD, AutoCAD, spreadsheets, and MathCAD).

    • Perform field work related to construction related activities as required.

    • Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.

    Qualifications

    Your Capabilities and Credentials

    • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or intent to obtain one within 6 months of hire.

    • Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of design

    • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite

    • Basic understanding of Microstation and any other relevant design software

    • Knowledge of calculations performed by software

    • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate concepts and ideas to others

    • Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and various structures

    Education and Experience

    • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in engineering with an emphasis in Transportation or Structural Engineering. Master's degree preferred.

    • With 0-5 years of related work experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

    Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
