This position will be part of the Enterprise Services team, which delivers a full suite of services to state agencies, boards, councils, and commissions, and many central services to local government partners

    This position exists to provide support and expertise for MNIT Services' hybrid cloud environments through standardization and automation. It will participate in the implementation and support of cloud technology solutions for strategic projects and initiatives, using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps methodologies.

    This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and supporting services to support MNIT cloud strategies including:

    • Planning, implementing, and supporting agencies' migration to the cloud.

    • Implementing and supporting cloud infrastructure.

    • Implementing standardized technology stacks for the cloud.

    • Adhering to MNIT standards and policies to ensure proper configurations and operations.

    • Maintaining MNIT Enterprise strategies.

    This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

    • Telework (~~~) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.

    • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:

    Position requires a minimum of three (3) years of IT related experience in public cloud provider services, network technologies, and technical support.

    Experience must include

    • 1 year of experience with the technologies below:

    • Virtualization solutions for both Public and Private Clouds, such as Azure, AWS, VMWare, or Hyper-V.

    • Infrastructure Configuration Solutions, such as Azure Automation, Orchestrator, SCCM Desired State Configuration, Azure Desired State Configuration, Puppet, or Chef.

    • Experience supporting Cloud IaaS and PaaS Services.

    • Experience supporting Linux and Windows server operating systems.

    • Experience with automation using scripting/programming language(s).

    • Experience with development pipelines, DevOps philosophies and working with infrastructure-as-code.

    • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.

    • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

    A master's degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor's degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate's degree substitutes for one (1) year.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Sophisticated troubleshooting ability, including the ability to create and test hypotheses based on relative likelihood and a willingness and ability to creatively consider all possible causes for a problem and test appropriately.

    • Ability to work with product managers and other engineering teams to deliver cloud-based solutions that meet the needs of a dynamic organization.

    • Ability to apply research and analytical skills in evaluating new technologies.

    • Ability to analyze technical problems and implement solutions under extremely tight time constraints and high-pressure situations.

    • Ability to interact technically with staff, vendor representatives, and users through verbal and written communications.

    • Ability to effectively present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical staff.

    • Ability to use the formal methods of systems analysis.

    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

    • Experience presenting clear and concise reports.

    • Effective customer service skills, including the ability to interact frequently with end-users and other staff.
