  • Job Description

    Insight Global is seeking a Remote Compressor Design Engineer (Analysis Focus) to join their team. The company is based in Greenville, SC, so the working hours are around 7:30-4:30 EST (flexible). This engineer will be building and evaluating Ansys models and documenting best practices to share with various teams. The engineer should have strong knowledge to run missions, post process, and summarize both 2D and 3D design results. Majority of the work will be done in Ansys Workbench and the engineer will be expected to run the design reviews and post process, along with implementing new designs that are documented and shared with internal teams. Strong analysis knowledge is needed to run structural, modal or forced response analysis with thermal and mechanical loads, and familiarity with lifing methods such as: LCF, HCF, creep and fracture, is needed. The engineer should be comfortable being the component owner of hardware being designed/modified, and communicate effectively with different groups within the organization: drafting, sourcing, manufacturing, aero, heat transfer, materials, and design teams. Previous experience with gas turbine design and analysis work is highly preferred since familiarity with rotors, compressor blades, vanes, casings, and VSV hardware is helpful.     Skills and Requirements

    At least 2 years' experience with NX Unigraphics (CAD software) & Ansys Workbench

    Understanding of mechanical design methods of gas turbine systems

    Must be comfortable documenting design changes and modifications

    Experience running structural, modal or forced response analysis (with thermal and mechanical loads)

    Knowledgeable with LCF, HCF, creep, fracture, and post-processing (joint behavior, stress and strength)

    Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Familiarity with design, analysis and manufacturing of gas turbine components such as rotors, compressor blades, vanes, casings & VSV Hardware

    Familiarity with lifing methods & tools (SIESTA, PREFER, iCreep) null
