    BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

    At MSC, we are growing our data platform team and we are seeking an experienced data platform engineer with GCP cloud data platform experience. The Data Platform Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining scalable and reliable data platform services that enable data engineering, data science, AI/ML, analytics, and services to utilize our data assets to their fullest

    This position will be involved in the delivery of multiple initiatives, and will focus on delivering repeatable, self-service solutions that enable integrations for products and services. This position will also partner with engineering architects to deliver on the strategic vision for the data platform.

    DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Engineer the architecture roadmap for data platform using cloud first technologies within the GCP cloud environment

    • Collaborate with platform engineers across MSC to ensure consistent standards and processes are being implemented into the data platform

    • Develop end-to-end data platform solutions on the Google Cloud Platform, focusing on scalability and reusable patterns for efficiency

    • Bring automation to lineage, data flows, and orchestration to streamline data platform processing

    • Deliver data process improvements with automation, optimize delivery, and enable self-service data integrations

    • Design, Code and implement with infrastructure as code solutions utilizing Terraform

    • Ensure our data is secure in transit and at rest and build repeatable data access patterns

    • Supports a range of data platform needs including data engineering, business intelligence, real-time analytics, data visualization, AI/ML and service integrations

    • Collaborates with 3rd parties on service integrations into the data platform

    • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose

    • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

    SKILLS:

    • Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration

    • Excellent organizational, time management, verbal, and written communication skills

    • Knowledge in a diverse sets of modern data platform technologies, best practices, and capabilities (Big Query, Kafka, Hadoop, Spark, etc)

    • Experience in data interoperability and semantic layers implementations (Look ML, DBT)

    • Knowledge in orchestration services like Airflow

    • Expertise in automation in reusable patterns within data platforms and IAC (Terraform)

    • Proven engineering skills in a remote environment

    • Established track record for implementing data platform solutions at scale

    • Proven ability to write testable code and promoting code into production using

    • Ability to quickly understand complex business systems and processes

    • Strong situational assessment and decision-making skills

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel up to 10% of the time required.

    • This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information ("ITAR") and/or Controlled Unclassified Information ("CUI").

    Compensation starting at $70980 - $111540 depending on experience.

    The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
