Data Science Analyst

Actalent is hiring a Data Science and Analytics Engineer, with experience in an automotive product development or manufacturing environment. You will be creating analysis modules for Vehicle Test Data. You will be communicating with the engineering team to understand the basic mechanics, electrical, and controls problems that engineers want to analyze. You will be responsible for building simple dashboards within Tableau or PowerBI to display analysis results.

Responsibilities

Develops an understanding of our current products and technical challenges facing engineering

• Take part in remote testing two times a year to develop understanding of the testing being done and our products

• Able to understand the basic mechanics, electrical, and controls problems that engineers want to analyze

Create analysis modules for Vehicle Test Data

• Able to understand requirements from Engineering and have a conversation about logic to implement

• Implements analysis code within Python. Code is readable and efficient, using packages such as NumPy and Pandas

• Unit testing and integration testing is developed while the analysis module is being developed, building confidence in the correctness of module

• Document the logic implemented to build confidence and the knowledge

Communicate results to engineering

• Communicate with other data analytics teams about the analysis module.

• Build simple dashboards within Tableau or PowerBI to display analysis results.

• 20% Travel (Winter & Summer Test, In Use Emissions, and Portland)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

• Interest in automotive industry

• Able to understand basic mechanics, electrical and controls problems in the automotive Industry

• 1-5 years of experience working with Python in a professional environment

• Experience processing large data sets

• Experience with Git or other Version Control System tools

• Able to communicate with others and work within a team

Typical Minimum Experience (Desired Skills/Experience)

• Experience working on data analysis projects with Python/Big data, using packages such as NumPy and Pandas

• Experience with project organization tools such as Jira

• Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau or PowerBI

• Experience with writing SQL queries and designing SQL tables
