  • Eaton's ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Design Engineer (R&D). This position is based at our Hodges, SC facility.

    This role is a unique opportunity to develop best-in-class products and features through product research, design, design validation, deployment, and maintenance in accordance with market needs. This role is also responsible for providing technical expertise on busway products. The Design Engineer will be essential in annual engineering growth projects.

    The expected annual salary range for this role is $65250.0 - $95700.0 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

    What you'll do:

    • Translate internal and external customer requirements into measurable performance criteria.

    • Develop technical communications: datasheets, interface control documents, test plans, etc.

    • Design, model, and test product prototypes. Maintain and improve existing products through design and competitive analysis.

    • Work with other Eaton Electrical businesses as well as outside suppliers to develop new features and design opportunities for products within the product line scope and charter.

    • Lead cross-functional teams using the Eaton PROLaunch product development process. Integrate best practices from each functional team to deliver a high quality, best-in-class design.

    • Apply knowledge of industry and certification standards to ensure proper product compliance (UL, NEC, CSA, NEMA, IEEE, CANENA)

    • Represent the product line as a technical consultant. Investigate and evaluate opportunities for product development and redesign.

    • Identify technology upgrades and cost reduction opportunities to keep the product line in a competitive position.

    • Communication of new designs and product with the product line and monitoring of standards.

    • Train production employees, product line engineers, and technicians on new product designs.

    • Provide guidance to manufacturing engineers during development of products and during upgrade of existing product. Provide direction to production employees on technical issues. Maintain drawings, product structure, and design standards.

    • Work with manufacturing disciplines to design processes as well as products which meet market and customer needs.

    Qualifications:

    Required (Basic) Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.

    • Minimum one (1) year of engineering or technical experience in design and/or manufacturing.

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

    • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate geographical area of Hodges, SC (50 miles) will be considered for this position. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior experience in a design role

    • Prior experience in a value-add/value-engineered role.

    • Design for Six Sigma

    • Validation testing experience.

    • Familiarity with simulation analysis

    • Project Management experience

    • Experience with 3D CAD tools

    • Prior experience in engineering internship/co-op position

    Skills:

    • Product Life-cycle management systems and their structure

    • Fabrication methods for sheet metal, plastic, copper, and aluminum

    • UL 857, IEEE C37.23, UL 98, UL 489

    • Working knowledge of regulatory standards for the US that cover low voltage distribution equipment.
