Diesel Engine Systems Engineer
Job Description & Qualifications:
Deliver new diesel engine programs by leading engine component integration and trade-off studies for optimal function, quality, cost and weight balance
Interface with other powertrain sub-systems to achieve optimal function, cost, and weight balance
Coordinate with Engine Manufacturing on machining and assembly of the engine, support engine plant pre-production builds and production launch
Support package reviews, pre-production vehicle builds and production launch at vehicle assembly plants
Coordinate vehicle level testing, assist with vehicle testing logistics to assure test schedule is kept on target
Coordinate management program reviews to report status to major milestone events
Manage the design verification for the assigned subsystems or entire engine and ensure completion at required gateways
Identify and implement ideas that support cost reductions and quality improvements
Lead cross functional engineering teams to resolve development and launch issues
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree
2+ years of experience with automotive powertrain engineering or engine engineering
Self-motivated and an independent thinker
Good interpersonal skills, enjoy working with teams, and have good oral and written communication proficiency
Good organizational skills with ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Familiarity with Ford engineering systems
