Director of Data Science

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Director of Data Science to sit with one of our large financial clients. This person will be joining the AI/ML Data Science team focused on model development of large language models and engineering solutions. This person will be responsible for leading a team of 7, while also doing hands on technical work themselves. The main focus of this team right now is understanding text (hidden in word documents, powerpoint, etc.), cleaning the data and preparing the data pipelines focusing on GenAI solutions. They are responsible for understanding the data that comes into the model and coming up with practical solutions to overcome modeling problems. The team will be developing and implementing ML modeling and LLM development and fine-tuning strategies, best practices, and standards to enhance AI ML model deployment and monitoring efficiency to help fix short-term obstacles. While mentoring the engineers, hands on coding in Python and technical work is a crucial component of this position. This person's time will be broken up in thirds: 33% hands on coding, 33% mentoring and management, 33% communicating with stakeholders, project management duties, etc. This person will be collaborating with product teams, business stakeholders, MLOps, machine learning engineers, and software engineers to ensure smooth integration of machine learning models into production systems.

Skills and Requirements

• 5+ years of experience (flex) leveraging large sets of structured and unstructured data to develop data-driven tactical and strategic analytics and insights using ML, NLP, computer vision solutions

• Experience with NLP, LLMs (extractive and generative), fine-tuning, and LLM model development

• Expert in python programming

• Lead/management experience

• Stakeholder management skills (effective communication with stakeholders)

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics, Computational Linguistics, Engineering or related field - Financial services experience

• Experience with contributing to Github and open source initiatives or in research projects null
