  • Summary:

    At Meta Reality Labs, we're developing the future of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). The Display Engineering team is looking for a Display Optical Calibration Engineer who can build a full end-to-end display calibration, covering from display module to optical module and full headset system and bringing the best visual experience to our customers. You will set the technical goals, innovate on the front-of-screen quality enhancement technologies, be the point of contact and interface to various cross functional teams, and work with the current and evolving ecosystem to provide differentiating capabilities to our HW platforms. You will be part of a tight-knit group of highly talented engineers at the forefront of our innovative products.

    Required Skills:

    Display Optical Engineer/VR Responsibilities:

    1. Lead the display optical development and module design to enable the cutting edge front of screen visual experience.

    2. Define the full end-to-end display calibration flow, covering display module, optical system module, and full headset system.

    3. Proactively interface with external display vendors and Meta internal cross-functional teams (such as EE, ME, Optical system, SW, and System, etc) to drive decisions for the best display design

    4. Define display optical specifications, design test plans and methodologies to validate display performance

    5. Optimize, validate, and implement calibration algorithms to enhance display headset visual performance for our customers.

    6. Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% time internationally.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. Master's degree or Ph.D degree in Physics, Optics, Imaging Science, Color Science, Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.

    2. Solid knowledge in display metrology, photometry, radiometry and color science including color appearance models and color management.

    3. Experience with common optical instruments (flicker meter, spectroradiometer, colorimeter, imaging spectroradiometer/colorimeter, CCD, etc).

    4. 3+ years of experience in display optical calibration for mass production products.

    5. Track-record of delivering high volume, fast paced consumer products.

    6. Project management, effective communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Preferred Qualifications

    1. In-depth knowledge of AMLCD and/or AMOLED and its production process

    2. Experience in display optics, including illumination optics and polarization optics

    3. Experience in human factors testing and psychophysics

    4. Experience with C/C++, C#, MATLAB and/or Python

    5. Experience in image quality evaluation and image quality enhancement algorithms is a plus

    Public Compensation:

    $170,000/year to $240,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
