    WSP is growing and we have an exciting opportunity for an Entry-level Environmental Scientist for our Marlton, New Jersey office. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

    WSP's Marlton office provides a broad range of services in engineering and environmental sciences including environmental assessment, investigations and remediation, remedial design and permitting. Our ideal candidate will be excited about the opportunity to support our environmental consulting business for state and federal programs including CERCLA, RCRA, NJDEP Site Remediation Program, and Pennsylvania Act 2.

    Your Impact

    • Engage in a team environment, working closely with project managers, technical experts, and co-workers to complete field tasks and project deliverables

    • Safely perform work in the office and field; fieldwork may occur in all seasons and weather conditions, using a variety of field equipment (with an ability to lift and move approximately 40 pounds without assistance) and operating vehicles on behalf of the company

    • Participate in a range of field sampling programs, including the collection, handling, and shipment of samples of various environmental media (e.g., groundwater, soil, sediment, soil vapor, indoor air) in compliance with State and Federal requirements

    • Perform site investigations such as such as Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and assist with follow-up report preparation

    • Coordinate and provide oversight of subcontractors (e.g., laboratories, drillers, surveyors)

    • Accurately document (e.g., field forms, field notebooks, daily reports) and verbally communicate site conditions, observations, and activities

    • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, analysis, and reporting

    • Assist with the preparation of environmental monitoring and technical reports, including compiling, interpreting (with experience), and presenting field and analytical data

    • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

    • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

    • Local and national travel typically not routinely exceeding five days at a time, with possible opportunities for long-term remote assignments

    Who You Are

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a core science field with an environmental concentration

    • 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience

    • Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework

    • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

    • Excellent verbal skills with strong writing, analytical and organizational skills, a positive attitude, and ability to work both independently and within groups

    • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products

    • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately

    • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in the consulting or environmental industry, including research or internships

    • Familiarity with field practices such as collection of environmental monitoring data using industry standard meters, instrumentation, and techniques

    • Familiarity with geochemical or GIS data presentation

    • Experience with the management, visualization, and statistical analysis of quantitative data

    • OHSA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification

    Additional Information:

    • Submittal of a cover letter with your application is appreciated

    • Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a respirator

    • This role will be approximately 80% field work on remediation sites and 20% in the office

    • Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening

    • This role may be subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
