    Purpose and Scope

    Perform a variety of onsite electrical design engineering assignments to support project requirements and the development, design, installation, operations, and maintenance of facility systems located at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Florida. The types of facilities include space flight hardware processing facilities, launch pad support facilities, Engineering and Administrative Support buildings and other types of industrial facilities. Projects range from simple single discipline to complex multi-discipline.

    Job Duties and Essential Responsibilities

    Perform a wide range of electrical design, development, analysis, and review tasks under the supervision of the Lead Electrical Design Engineer. Generate complete electrical system design details and specifications for projects involving low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems and building services for various types of systems and components - including switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, generators, transformers, distribution panels, lighting systems and other electrical system components. The design includes preparing design drawings or sketches (single line diagrams, plans, wiring schematics, control schematic, schedules, etc.), power system analyses and Statements of Work in accordance with NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NESC IEEE and other applicable NFPA, and industry standards. Interface and/or liaise with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design including all design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications. Develop and maintain technical and specification documentation which comply with contract and government documentation standards and procedures to include Configuration Management (CM) program and Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM). Prepare, review, and submit technical papers and engineering studies. Conduct site visits and investigations to analyze engineering problems and to propose solutions alternative methods, or recommendations for these problems. Coordinate effectively with various engineering disciplines, NASA customer, field technicians, project managers, CAD drafters, and program management through written and verbal communications. Utilize software to generate Arc Flash, Load Flow, Short Circuit, and coordination analysis. Manage all assigned project completion dates, hours spent and estimate completion dates. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

    Education and Experience Requirements

    Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program. Must have 0-2+ years of experience in the areas defined in this job posting. Excellent communications and analytical skills with a working knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft Office applications.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Successful completion of the Fundamental of Engineering (FE) exam preferred/encouraged. Familiarity with electrical analysis software and development tools and programming concepts. Ability and desire to expand knowledge of other controls and automation systems.

    Other Requirements:

    Must be a U.S. citizen (no exceptions) and be able to obtain and maintain clearances/badges. Must have the ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written in an effective manner. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Work location is primarily on site @ Kennedy Space Center.

    Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

    This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards; occasional lifting to 20 pounds; constant sitting with use of computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents; constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; constant mental alertness; must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines. Field work will consist primarily of site walk downs in support of design projects and system trouble shooting Site hazard training and Personal Protective Equipment are provided.
