    Otis Service Center in Bloomfield, CT is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, hands-on and result oriented Electrical Engineer to leverage technology in support of legacy and in-production control system.

    Day to day functions include but are not limited to

    Job Responsibilities

    • Design and develop hardware and software for use in Elevator Control with initial focus in Motion and Operation Control Sub System

    • Design and setup tests for evaluating the performance of hardware; perform calculations, estimations and laboratory tests required to verify the soundness and suitability of the design; assist in creation of drawings for manufacturing of new parts and products.

    • Support supply management with electrical and electronics component issues and Value Engineering (VE) activities related to Otis Fixtures, Drives, Door Controllers and Motion sub system.

    • Research, develop and implement "form fit function" replacement for electrical and electronic components that are obsolete or unavailable. Many components require thorough research into their root design so that the solution is credible. This also requires updates to drawings, BOM, creation of new Software/ Firmware and instructions for in-house repair depot and the Field personnel.

    • Support cost reduction and cost avoidance initiatives. Individual would be responsible for preparation of specification, design of functional test equipment, and qualification of the initiative; respective candidate would bring the project to conclusion by publishing opinion to the stack holders.

    • Investigate "Field Turn Backs" and perform root cause failure analysis of electrical, electromechanical and electronic parts and circuitry, suggest corrective actions to ensure product reliability in support of companywide Process Improvement initiatives.

    • Create and update Controller Spare Parts Leaflet and related documents in support of field operation and OSC Customer Service.

    Education

    Candidates should possess BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a closely matched discipline.

    Experience/Qualifications:

    • This position requires 2-3 years of demonstrated knowledge in Embedded Hardware, Software and Firmware design.

    • Hands on experience with advanced microcontroller, ARM® based architecture, serial communications SPI, I2C, CAN, RS422/485, USB, Ethernet, peripherals, such as DAC/ADC, Audio, Video, Graphics , LCD driver, Quadrature Encoder are a definite plus.

    The successful candidate will also possess

    • Strong Electrical Engineering aptitude - Working knowledge of C/C++ and Assembly language in Embedded design application

    • Hands on PCB design process experience. - Fluency with electrical engineering CAD tools - In-depth knowledge of laboratory instrument and test equipment.

    • Working knowledge of VB.NET, C# , or Python with instrumentation and external I/O control

    • This function also requires strong verbal and written communication.
