Electrical Engineer

Description

• Electrical engineer who designs and analyzes electrical systems and equipment for power generation, distribution, control, and communication systems in industrial complexes.

  • Estimate costs for customer processes, develop specifications and drawings, and perform associated engineering tasks.

  • This includes designing power system general arrangements, outdoor facility substation and utility point of connection designs, medium and low voltage substation designs, and power distribution rooms and transformer vaults.

  • Create load, raceway, cable, and equipment schedules, and specify requirements for electrical contractors.

  • Design diesel and natural gas standby power generator systems, grounding, bonding, and lightning protection systems, and power factor and harmonic mitigation systems.

  • Utilize Easy Power, SKM, ETAP power analysis software.

  • <15% travel to OEM sites for factoring acceptance testing (FAT) prior to shipment of equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Required Experience

• P.E. License

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

• 5-10 years preferred experience in Power Engineering with emphasis on production, distribution and analysis of low voltage, medium voltage or transmission systems and equipment.

• Power system design experience in a solution-focused, team environment; yet capable of solo performance and remote site work under customer scrutiny.

• Experience working within Easy Power, SKM, ETAP power analysis software

• Application selection, use and care of appropriate PPE as defined in NFPA70E.

• Management, office interface, field support or supervision of skilled trades.

• Field and shop utilization of power, hand and diagnostic tools.

• Project management of end-to-end plant power system design a plus.
