    To design and develop embedded wireless Media Access Controller (MAC) solutions and integrate with new and legacy Modems. At the core of all wireless technology is the MAC/Modem and their tightly coupled interactions, in this role you will be working at the foundational level implementing real-time targeted embedded firmware to provide best in class wireless radio performance on various types of Media Access Designs (FDD, TDD, Half-Duplex, Full-Duplex).

    As an Embedded Software Engineer for Critical Infrastructure Communications (CIC) at GE Grid Solutions, you will be responsible for designing industry-leading solutions for industrial grade wired and wireless communications products. CIC is seeking a highly motivated Software Developer who is team-oriented and well versed in the embedded software design. This is an onsite role that is tightly integrated with cross-functional departments (engineering, validation, manufacturing)

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Work with an experienced Mentor on MAC/Modem designs.

    • Experience in Computer and Networking administration (ex: Linux, Windows).

    • Experience in software development and revision control, such as git/GitHub.

    • Ability to follow formal software design principles and development processes.

    • Working understanding of JIRA, Confluence (or equivalent tools).

    • Report progress and status to project management.

    • Perform rough estimates of time required to resolve issues, helping with task prioritization process.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree required (BSEE, BSCE, BSSE or comparable)

    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.

    Desired Characteristics

    • Proficient in C or C++ programming.

    • Knowledge of communications theory, RF waveforms, and modulation techniques (FSK, QAM).

    • Some knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, SSH, HTTP, DHCP.

    • Experience with Real-time Operating Systems (FreeRTOS, ThreadX, Micrium, VxWorks...).

    • Experience with test equipment such as mixed signal analyzers/generators, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes

    • An analytical approach to problem solving with a high degree of curiosity.

    • Willingness and ability to learn from others.
