Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Cherrypoint team! As our Mechanical Engineer, you will work closely with our quality and production teams at our Surface Technologies facility, specializing in laser peening.

You will be providing production support by designing equipment and serving as a technical lead for production staff. This is a hands-on project-based role with an opportunity to learn about all other sorts of engineering used in the laser peening process.

Your Challenge

• Design equipment used in the laser peening process

• Act as a technical lead for production staff

• Continuously improving the current production flow

• Learning engineering processes outside of traditional manufacturing mechanical engineering

• Project management - from design to implementation

What You Bring

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering/Optical Engineering (would be a plus)

• 1-3 years of experience or related experience/education (project based work)

• Experience working in a team environment

• Must be able to obtain a DOD security clearance

Preferred

• Proficiency in MATLAB

• Experience with solid mechanics
