    This position will work closely with the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) which is a multi-technology office responsible for overseeing more than $27B of investment in large scale demonstrations in emerging technologies such as clean hydrogen, carbon capture, advanced nuclear reactors, grid-scale energy storage, industrial emissions reductions as well as demonstrations in rural and socioeconomically disadvantaged regions.

    This position is remote, with the expectation that candidates can work during Eastern Time Zone office hours. Residency in the United States is a mandatory requirement.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Conduct independent engineering / due diligence technical advisory reviews of the environmental systems (e.g., pollution control technologies) of clean energy technologies and projects.

    • Able to evaluate the expected or actual functionality and performance of pollution control and monitoring systems of project.

    • Identify key gaps / needs as it relates to the functionality and performance of pollution control and monitoring systems of project.

    • Identify project risks and risks mitigants of technology and project.

    • Articulate recommendations for improvement (when necessary).

    • Work in teams and independently to provide engineering expertise on various pollution control and monitoring systems technologies.

    • Draft independent engineering / due diligence reports on evaluated systems.

    • Able to draft a data table and risk table (as part of an independent engineering / due diligence report or otherwise).

    • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication - communicating succinctly and clearly.

    • Liaise with a variety of stakeholders when providing engineering expertise (e.g., clients, technology providers, other engineering disciplines).

    Qualifications:

    • This position is remote, with the expectation that candidates can work during Eastern Time Zone office hours. Residency in the United States is a mandatory requirement.

    • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.

    • Bachelor's Degree in environmental engineering required (or civil engineering) in an accredited environmental engineering program.

    • Background in civil environmental systems, such as water pollution control, water treatment, preferably in the energy, power, process, or manufacturing industries.

    • Comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and municipal permitting requirements for related projects.

    • Comprehensive understanding of typical environmental impact reporting and statements (e.g., EIR, EIS) required by federal (e.g., USEPA, USACE) and state environmental regulatory agencies, and federal and state laws (e.g., NEPA, SEQR) for related projects.

    • Comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and municipal environmental regulatory compliance requirements for related projects.

    • Understanding of industry standard emissions monitoring and testing requirements.

    • Experience providing independent engineering, technical advisory, or due diligence.

    • Minimum of 10 years' experience practicing in this field, preferably as an engineer-of-record.

    • A licensed professional engineer (P.E.) is preferred.

    • Master's Degree in a related field is a plus.

    • Ability to manage projects is a plus.

    • Understanding of the Equator Principles and related guidelines is a plus.
