    What You Will Achieve

    The GWE EHS Site Lead plays an influential role as member of the Site Leadership/ Extended Leadership Team in driving a proactive safety & environmental culture enabling Pfizer's Purpose; "Breakthroughs that change patients' lives." The role is pivotal in shaping the long-term site safety & environmental strategy working closely with site leaders to grow programs that deliver proactive improvements.

    The role is accountable for building and maintaining programs that assure compliance with applicable jurisdictional EHS regulations and company safety & environmental policies and procedures. The role purposely networks within its GWE region to drive implementation of CI and best practice opportunities to achieve strategic and operational goals.

    The EHS Site Lead provides leadership and oversight of the EHS department subject matter experts and thoughtfully grows and develops next generation talent. The role is also responsible for providing direct technical support for one or more subject areas such as EHS management systems, training, environmental compliance, lab safety, and/or industrial hygiene.

    How You Will Achieve It

    • Set the strategic direction of the safety & environmental programs at the site, though long-term objectives and integration with site over-arching priorities.

    • Collaborate with site leadership on colleague & contractor safety risk reduction and environmental impact reduction priorities, equipping peers with performance status; and data trends to drive CI.

    • Oversee the development and maintenance of the site legal register, impact assessment and regulatory / commitment tracking processes; utilizing self-assessment tools to assure effectiveness.

    • Prepare safety and environmental permit applications, registrations, certifications and renewals and lead a reasonable inquiry process to assure the accuracy and completeness of all routine and special regulatory and internal reports / submissions.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for EHS external / regulatory bodies.

    • Ensure implementation, maintenance and effectiveness of safety & environmental management systems that meet contemporary external and Pfizer internal EHS standards and enhance and continuously improve the EHS programs at the site.

    • Establish and maintain site inspection / audit systems that periodically evaluate the effectiveness of the site EHS management system; and utilizes the trends to drive actions.

    • Integrate safety and environmental risk assessment within business operations thereby ensuring operations are conducted in a safe manner and in full compliance with applicable regulating bodies or Pfizer EHS standards.

    • Manage and execute the site EHS budget and ensure delivery of in-sourced and outsourced EHS services at the site.

    • Collaborate with safety & environmental peers within the network to embrace good practices and drive adoption, where appropriate.

    • Grow and develop safety & environmental talent.

    • Ensure preparedness for potential threats and lead / participate site Emergency / Crisis Management Team when events arise.

    • Participate in or lead key committees such as the Site EHS Leadership Team, EHS Committee and/or Biosafety Committee.

    Qualifications

    Must-Have

    • Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of experience.

    • People Management experience.

    • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work across multiple countries and cultures.

    • Demonstrated working knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements and guidelines associated with biosafety.

    • Proficiency in MS Office.

    • Good understanding of environmental, health safety and security programs and key processes.

    • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

    Nice-to-Have

    • Master's degree and relevant pharmaceutical experience.

    • Certification in recognized EHS specialties or professional license.

    • Relevant specialization in EHS (e.g. lab safety, occupational hygiene, biosafety).

    • Experience working in dynamic complex, matrixed business models.

    PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

    Due to the nature of work assignments, incumbents must be able to perform detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks, with frequent interruptions and under time constraints. On a daily basis, the position responsibilities may require the ability to stoop; to reach; to stand, to walk the site for extended periods of time; to push and/or pull objects weighing up to 30 pounds; to lift and carry objects weighing up to 15 pounds; to sit/stand at a computer workstation for extended periods of time. On a frequent basis, essential duties of the position may require the ability to climb stairs, to kneel and/or crouch to retrieve items.

    NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

    • Day shift with occasional after hours or weekend response for onsite support associated with facility incidents or excursions or planned shutdowns for maintenance and/or capital and expense project execution.

    • Respond as required to the site in support of business continuity and emergency events.

    • Entry and work inside laboratories, mechanical/electrical rooms, central utility plants, maintenance shops, shipping and receiving and service corridors. While working in these areas, strict adherence to gowning procedures and personal protective equipment will be required as applicable.

    • General safety knowledge and awareness expected in office, laboratory, and manufacturing environment.

    The annual base salary for this position ranges from $117,300.00 to $195,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
