We're determined to make a difference and are proud to be an insurance company that goes well beyond coverages and policies. Working here means having every opportunity to achieve your goals - and to help others accomplish theirs, too. Join our team as we help shape the future.

This position supports The Hartford's National Accounts, Captives and Energy teams by providing actuarial guidance and developing, enhancing and maintaining various pricing models. The National Accounts segment writes loss sensitive large commercial accounts that are individually priced, often with tailored policy coverages. The Captives segment offers unique insurance arrangements where Captive members share and pool insurance risk on the primary layer, while The Hartford retains excess layer risk. Pricing both types of risks requires the use of complex WC, GL, and Auto rating tools. In addition, this position may provide support for the Energy segment across all lines of business.

This position can be performed in either a hybrid or remote work arrangement depending on the experience level of the candidate.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform insightful account-specific analyses that enable the business to price new and renewal policies and to set collateral levels. This will require the actuary to challenge the status quo and think creatively as well as to communicate complex concepts to business partners.

    • Update Pricing Model parameters on a regular basis while adding enhancements for improved accuracy and process efficiency wherever possible

    • Enhance actuarial support to Segment Business Leaders, by providing timely and accurate views of profitability and performing analytics that proactively identify and address business issues

    • Proactively communicate findings and recommendations to business partners in a manner that is understandable and actionable

    • Partner with Underwriting to deliver training on various tools.

    Experience & Skills

    • 3-5+ years of actuarial experience with demonstrated analytic skills and a proven record of success closely aligned with supporting a business.

    • Near/recent ACAS with progress towards FCAS, but related experience considered in lieu of actuarial credentials.

    • Experience in pricing P&C commercial lines.

    • Must be proficient in Excel; knowledge of statistical modeling techniques and R a plus.

    • Collaborative problem solver with experience working independently in a dynamic and matrixed environment.

    • Communication skills - both oral and written; effective at communicating actuarial issues and results to non-actuarial personnel

    • Proactive individual, with demonstrated creativity and innovation, who can drive a process to a conclusion while meeting critical deadlines

    • Customer relationship and influencing skills
