    HNTB Corporation is expanding our Carolinas Hydraulic Team. HNTB's Transportation team is very active in aviation, transit, freight rail, and highway design and #TeamHNTB is looking for a highly talented Project Engineer - Team Lead to join the Carolinas Hydraulics section. Our team is currently working on some of the most complex projects in North and South Carolina for a variety of clients including NCDOT, SCDOT, City of Raleigh, and various other municipalities and local governments. #TeamHNTB is looking for that individual wanting to take the next step in their career and begin the journey into a team leader while helping grow market share.

    The role will be expected to provide project delivery oversight and development of industry relationships. Primary duties will include assisting the Carolinas Hydraulics Section Manager with the development of strategic planning, oversight of the technical components of project delivery, scope and fee compilation, quality control, and serving as a key contributor to staff development and morale. Technical oversight will be required in the areas of open and closed stormwater system analysis, hydraulic flood studies, hydraulic survey reports (HSRs) preparation, design of stormwater control measures (SCMs), use of Best Management Practices (BMPs), and sediment and erosion control design. This position will include direct oversight, training, and mentorship of junior engineers and help in the recruitment processes.

    What You'll Do:

    • Responsible for the planning and distribution of discipline-specific work, and adherence to the schedule and budget on projects.

    • Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.

    • Assists with the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects and/or assignments within discipline.

    • Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team's work within the technical discipline. Guides and mentors team to overall project objectives.

    • Coordinates technical aspects of project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline.

    • Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.

    • Recruits, hires, develops and retains staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession. Coordinates schedules and approves timecards.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    What You'll Need:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, or

    • Master's degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, or

    • PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience

    What You'll Bring:

    • Understands the impacts of decisions on technical design and work planning.

    • Coordinates work planning and design effectively across multiple technical disciplines.

    • Prepares high quality deliverables that are on time, and within budget and scope.

    • Exhibiting experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and MicroStation with Geopak Drainage, and OpenRoads Designer (ORD)

    • Experience using Flowmaster, HydroCAD, HDS-5, HY-8, and other drainage software

    • Knowledge with HECRAS modeling software and FEMA floodplain analysis and compliance.

    • Leadership, Development, and Mentorship of junior level staff

    What We Prefer:

    • 8 years relevant experience

    • Professional Engineer (PE) certification

    • NCDOT and SCDOT project experience

    • MicroStation OpenRoads Designer (ORD)

    • HEC-RAS And/or SRH-2D River Modeling Experience

    • ArcGIS Pro and HEC-HMS experience
