  • INDOT Construction Inspectors - Central and Southeast Indiana

    We are hiring for multiple INDOT Construction Inspectors to support projects taking place across Indiana! Candidates will be located in 1 of the 3 possible regions (Crawfordsville, Greenfield, or Seymour) and will work on various INDOT-related projects to ensure construction plans and specifications are being followed. These candidates will be expected to work both independently and within a team on projects, and travel (when needed) across the state of Indiana. We will accept a couple different backgrounds for this role (see Job Requirements below) - Either field experience on INDOT projects and/or degreed candidates with no experience.     Job Responsibilities

    • Responsible for overseeing and inspecting the work of the construction contractors to ensure design standards and construction specifications (Local, State, Federal) are being met.

    • Keeping a daily and weekly log of job activities and entering this information into SiteManager.

    • Responsible for establishing and maintaining a professional working relationship with engineers, materials testing labs, construction general contractors, and construction subcontractors.

    • Work under the direct supervision of the RPR, in multiple locations.

    • Communicate and coordinate with construction contractors' staff on a daily basis.

    • Complete daily reports; Create field drawings; and Perform field measurements.

    • Read and interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings.

    • Perform standard mathematical calculations, including trigonometry.

    • Assist the PE/PS in the completion of the Final Construction Record.

    Job Requirements: (We will consider 2 different candidate profiles for this role, listed below)

    • 2+ years of INDOT Construction Inspection experience with INDOT Certifications

    • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (these candidates will go through the certification process within their first 6 months of employment)

    Additional Requirements

    • Willing and able to work in Inclement Weather or Night Shifts as needed

    • Willing and able to perform Construction Material Testing, including lifting 50 lbs., when needed

    • Experience utilizing SiteManager is preferred but not required for this role

    Miscellaneous

    • Consistent backlog of projects for individuals in Northwest Indiana (LaPorte District); Northeast Indiana (Ft. Wayne District); and Central Indiana. Candidates will need to live in their given territory.

    • Compensation will range between $28/hour to $36.50/hour, depending on experience.

    • Work-related mileage will be paid at Federal Reimbursement Rate (Currently 67 cents/mile).

    • For Degreed Civil Engineers, there is a pathway to Design Engineering, if interested.

    • Construction Inspectors will work outside in various weather conditions. They will work either out of their truck or out of a field office trailer.

    • This is a hands-off position, as this person will be doing visual inspections.
