  • POSITION SUMMARY

    Entry level position working in a class 100 cleanroom environment with irregular shift hours. Assist in the maintenance of optics on the OMEGA/EP laser systems to prevent costly damage to system components. Participate in the development of inspection and mounting procedures for large optics. Ability to manipulate heavy mechanisms and glass substrates required.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Laboratory Technician reports to the OMEGA Operations Supervisor in the Optical Manufacturing Group and duties include the following:

    • Inspection and cleaning of in-situ optics on OMEGA/EP laser systems.

    • Assembly of optical substrates into various holders and mounts.

    • Handle delicate optics and install/ remove components from OMEGA/EP.

    • Maintain records on the condition of each optic and document all process information.

    • Chemical stripping of various materials (e.g. sol-gel, photoresist) from large substrates.

    • Operate equipment to assist with coater panel maintenance.

    • Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment and make simple repairs.

    • Support maintenance of a class 100 cleanroom area.

    • Data entry and operating custom software on a windows based computer.

    REQUIREMENTS :

    The laboratory technician should be familiar with the following technical aspects

    • Cleanroom gowning protocols and contamination control procedures.

    • Surface inspection and characterization techniques. (e.g. scratch/dig, cleanliness)

    • Mechanical assembly processes using hand-held tools.

    The position will require the ability to manipulate heavy mechanisms and glass substrates. The willingness to interact with fellow technicians, research scientists, students, and vendors with a friendly and professional attitude is essential for carrying out the duties of this job.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Associates Degree in optics or mechanical technology with one year experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Pay Range

    Pay Range: $ 15.38 - $ 24.52 Hourly

    The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
