    Day - 08 Hour (United States of America)

    The Planning Design and Construction Department (PD&C) at Stanford Medicine - Stanford Health Care is responsible for medical planning, capital improvement projects, real estate acquisition, construction, and ensuring compliance with the master plan and design aesthetics of the hospitals.

    300 Pasteur Drive Renewal Program

    Stanford Health Care is modernizing its facility at 300 Pasteur Drive on the Stanford Medicine campus in Palo Alto to offer superior patient care and a seamless environment with the inpatient hospital at 500 Pasteur Drive. This six-year project will culminate in a state-of-the-art facility, primarily providing oncology services, in 2027.

    The Construction Manager is responsible for managing construction related activities under the general supervision of the Director of Construction. This position conducts weekly construction progress meetings to discuss and resolve issues relating to RFI's, submittals, substitutions, schedule, extra work and quality of work. Prepares and distributes meeting minutes promptly. Interfaces with the Project Managers ensuring the clients/users and all other project participants including consultants, contractors, vendors, and outside jurisdictional agencies are all participating in the project in an efficient and effective manner.

    What you will do

    • Ensures the completion of construction within budget, on schedule, and meets all program objectives and appropriate government regulations.

    • Implements quality control measures to ensure construction project compliance with department, hospital, and university policies, government codes and regulations; also ensures conformance to the requirements of all project participants.

    • Manages communications on a regular and timely basis, ensuring that all project participants are informed of project status, problems, and required actions.

    • Manages the selection process and contract negotiations for contractors, and construction related vendors. Manages, assesses, and documents construction scope, describing the objectives, physical requirements, parameters, and constraints of the project, including not only the user's functional needs but also hospital and external jurisdictional criteria for health and safety, operation, maintenance, energy efficiency, quality standards, contextual issues, and aesthetics.

    • Prepares and maintains accurate, coherent, timely, and auditable project records/files, and cost estimates with department procedures.

    • Provides leadership, coordination, and support to the Project Managers and all the construction trades specific to a construction project.

    Education Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university

    Experience Qualifications

    • Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

    • Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Ability to budget, make financial projections and write reports

    • Ability to ensure project compliance with hospital infection control procedures

    • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with widely diverse groups, including individuals at all levels both within and outside the organization and gain their cooperation

    • Ability to plan, organize, motivate, mentor, direct and evaluate the work of others

    • Ability to prioritize work by making informed judgments and to develop solutions for complex problems

    • Ability to utilize project management tools

    • Knowledge of CAD system, CAFM, estimating, cost control, scheduling, construction administration, quality control, specification writing, and space planning

    • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility

    • Knowledge of technical, professional and business in the fields of healthcare delivery, architecture, and construction, and building design process

    Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $70.43 - $93.34 per hour

    The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
