    Mechanical Engineer

    Role Overview :

    Mechanical Engineers in this role would create contract-specific engineering drawings for non-standard contract deviations. They work with scheduling, layout drafters, sales, project management, engineering and supply management to produce accurate contract engineered solutions for mechanical elevator components/systems. Primarily using Creo, the Mechanical Design Engineer will create new or modify existing 3D model parts and assemblies to support contract engineered solutions. Outputs include, but are not limited to, 3D models, creation of contract-specific sheet metal manufacturing DXF's, manufacturing drawings and specified bills of materials.

    Typical responsibilities include contract engineering jobs to meet the customer's special requirements and creating engineering drawings and updating documents to convert special solutions into standard product offerings. Responsibilities may also include analyzing, designing and modifying elevator components and elevator systems as necessary to secure more contract wins.

    The candidate should be able to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical assembly drawings and sometimes building plans in order to analyze complex problems, identify root cause issues and develop innovative solutions.

    The candidate must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills and be able to collaborate effectively. The candidate will work on cross-functional teams including members from manufacturing operations, supply management, contract logistics, finance, and field support to ensure contract engineered designs are compatible with requirements from across the organization.

    What You Will Need to be Successful :

    Candidate's requirements:

    • Sound mechanical engineering background (Mechanical and system modeling and design, component modeling and design)

    • Creo / Pro Engineer

    • Mechanical structural analysis with Ansys or other FEA Software

    • Proficiency in MathCAD for design documentation

    • Skill with reviewing technical drawings

    • Ability to work with minimal direction; self-starter

    • Excellent communication and problem solving skills

    • Ability to work in cross-functional teams, respect individual differences and welcome diverse thinking

    • Proven history of on-time project delivery

    Additional qualifications preferred:

    • Familiarity with mechanical elevator components

    • Knowledge of materials characteristics

    • Sheet metal modeling experience

    • Ability to approach the job with a sense of ownership in the outcome of their work

    • Champion of process improvement

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

    Education/ Experience:

    The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.

    3 years minimum of related experience required.
