    Overall Purpose

    The mission of the Mechanical Engineer is to serve the development and delivery of advanced concepts in water and wastewater sensor and monitor technologies that contribute to the company's growth and further its stance in industry leadership. The Mechanical Engineer should drive the design and development implementation where compact, low powered, low maintenance, IoT-connected devices enable accurate and timely data-driven business decisions.

    The Mechanical Engineer will provide technical design execution within a staff of full-time, experienced and specialized engineers while assuming supplemental functional responsibilities.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Transform the line of hardware products to deliver leading-edge solutions that leap ahead of the competition and solidify the company's stance as an innovative trusted solutions advisor.

    • Adhere to and continue to innovate the development process from ideation through to rapid prototyping and testing and production phases. Introduce new discovery and design techniques that define the best path forward while minimizing the risk/cost of discovery while maintaining requirements of ISO processes and procedures.

    • Evolve the design and test lab to enable rapid proof of concept and prototype development and testing for mechanical components and design aspects.

    • Deliver insight to business case objectives, develop technical product specifications, research technology component selection.

    • Provide the mechanical engineering design of device housing, tooling and ingress/safety protections to include researching, design and testing of the components of the equipment system. Experienced in the use of computer-assisted engineering and design software to aid in engineering tasks.

    • Specific oversight to hardware physical design, tooling development, electromechanical integration, materials, test processes and interface with supply chain processes.

    • Ensure the certification standards for equipment installed in hazardous/explosive atmospheres are met, as necessary.

    • Interface with other development, product management, quality management and production/supply chain departments.

    • Execute FMEA analysis and mil-spec testing to ensure design reliability

    • Manage, operate, and maintain 3D printers and materials for rapid prototyping

    • Ensure compliance and design certification for all required regulatory standards

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent professional experience required.

    • 2+ years of professional experience in mechanical design required.

    • Experience in technical integrated hardware, tooling, materials and product development required.

    • Working knowledge of the device certification processes and standards preferred.

    • Able to communicate effectively orally and in written form.

    • Business acumen, understanding of core business success factors, and triggers for productivity.

    • Experience with acoustic and ultrasonic engineering and design principles preferred.

    • Experience with manufacturing processes required.

    • Ability to interpret and implement regulatory safety standards required and specific knowledge and experience with intrinsically safe design highly preferred.
