    Position Summary

    The Molding Technician performs routine cleaning, maintenance, repair, adjustments and troubleshooting for injection golf ball molds, cavities, and support equipment.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintains safe environment and a clean and orderly workplace per 3S standards.

    • Responsible for performing regular quality checks as per SOP.

    • Identify and resolve minor mechanical and quality problems.

    • Assists production in the trouble shooting of injection defects and problems.

    • Maintains inventory status and operational readiness of golf ball molds, cavities, and related support equipment.

    • Assists production in the development of counter measures to correct injection problems.

    • Schedules and performs mold/hot sprue/cavity changes and set-ups, cleaning (including dry ice processes), maintenance, and repair. Keeps record log on each.

    • Performs necessary product, mold and equipment testing to identify and solve material, equipment or process caused problems. Evaluates and reports results utilizing graphs, charts, and written reports. Recommends improvements and/or changes where appropriate.

    • Assists Laboratory Technician, when needed, in conducting special process or production trails and tests, and assists in solving product related problems.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one-year related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurements, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals with the ability to apply mathematical calculations to reach the proper recipe formulas and/or scale weight. Capability to convert Metric system measurements into American system of measurements or vice versa.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply commonsense with understanding to provide detailed written and/or oral instructions. Ability to be flexible with problem solving and reach resolutions appropriately.

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    Requires ability to perform data entry, and to plan, organize, and evaluate. Must be self-starter and able to work well with others. Must be mechanically inclined, able to demonstrate numerical and scientific ability and have problem-solving skills.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The work environment described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, works near moving mechanical parts. The employee may occasionally be exposed to dry ice, paint fumes, heat, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Refer to SDS and SOP for specific requirements. The noise level in the work environment is normally loud. Steel/Composite toed shoes, eye and ear protection, and face shields, gloves, and aprons are company provided (within reason) and always worn when needed in these areas. The indoor temperature is a partially climate-controlled environment and can be seasonably hot or cold depending on the weather temperatures outside.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Typically requires a high school degree; or 1-2 year vocational training / associates degree
