    Position Overview:

    The Computing Division at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking Multi Audiovisual Technician to join our Audiovisual Team. As a member of the Audiovisual Team you will plan, design, and optimize the enterprise audiovisual program, auditorium, conference room facilities, event operations, support operations and resources. You will also serve as an in-house audio-video technologies expert for the lab with your time split between program leadership and as a technical contributor.

    Note : This is an hourly, non-benefits eligible casual-nonexempt position (work less than 50% full-time equivalent), not to exceed 980 hours in a calendar year.

    Your specific responsibilities include:

    • Under general direction, responsible and accountable for the successful use and deployment of audiovisual media technology in a school or unit. Interface with internal and external clients requesting audiovisual media equipment, support, and/or consultation.

    • Collaborate with clients to determine project appropriate medium and plan production.

    • Research, prepare and produce digital media for training, documentation, and other communicative purposes for both internal and external audiences.

    • Diagnose and resolve media system problems. May also perform various hardware, software, peripheral, and networking technical assistance.

    • Research, recommend, and implement hardware and software configurations to meet client needs and to help ensure compatibility with SLAC's systems and architecture.

    • Set up, operate and troubleshoot on a variety of equipment including but not limited to; video conferencing, video displays, audio systems, laptops, video cameras, video projection, still photography, digitalization, analog and digital audio recording.

    • Maintain and ensure proper operation of all equipment and perform repairs and cleaning of media systems equipment.

    • May manage logistics, video shooting, music and sound effect licensing, computer graphics, animation, digital effect creation, editing and tape duplication.

    • May act as liaison with vendors ensuring scheduling, costs and requirements are met.

    • and services and close projects for billings.

    To be successful in this position you will bring:

    • Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

    • Demonstrated technical experience using audiovisual media equipment, video creation, editing software, and/or digital media control software.

    • Up-to-date awareness of AV and IT technologies and capabilities

    • Experience with live streaming events. YouTube Streaming, WebEx and Zoom

    • Knowledge of camera, lighting, audio and editing

    • Understanding of online video environment and online distribution.

    • Knowledge of conference room systems and fixed audiovisual equipment.

    • Familiar with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex, Cisco Telepresence, Cisco Codecs, Crestron, Extron systems, PTZ video camera controls, Audio Mixers.

    • Ability to adapt equipment setup and provide alternative setup or workarounds if necessary.

    • Good interpersonal skills, judgment, and diplomacy required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad audience.

    • Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a collaborative team environment.

    The expected pay range for this position is $22.19 - $ 68.29 per hour. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
