  • Responsibilities

    Position Summary:

    The Quality Assurance Sr. Tech, with guidance from the Manager, Chief Supervisor, and Supervisor's in conjunction the Quality and Safety Coordinator oversees all aspects of the department QA activities including development of QA standards based on regulatory agency requirements, collection and documentation of QA data, monitoring of patient care QA issues and documentation of QA problems/corrective action/follow-up monitoring.

    Job Duties:

    Quality Assurance/QC ¿¿¿¿¿¿

    • Manages all aspects of standardizing SOP's, Master Index, document numbering system and completion of document change control form. Coordinates yearly sign off by Pre-analytical Operations Manager and Medical Director (20%)

    • Maintains a schedule of internal audits. Compiles audit data and reports results to the department Manager, Chief Supervisor and Quality Assurance Department (14%)

    • Recognizes the need for and initiates random internal audits based on results of internal QA or customer related issues, identifies trends and makes suggestions and recommendation for process improvement. (10%)

    • Compiles QA monitor data and reports (10%)

    • Documents and follows-up on audit findings and corrective action using the Quality Improvement Process template (10%)

    • Works with Clinical Coordinator to review and update the Quality Assurance manual annually or as needed (5%)

    • Performs troubleshooting as needed; to include but not limited to missing samples and problem resolution and follow up. (5%)

    • Writing procedures (5%)

    • Other duties as assigned (5%)

    • Prepares action items to help maintain department in technical readiness for regulatory inspections (3%)

    • Records department internal and incident report level errors by employee (2%)

    • Presents internal audits, error data, and other pertinent quality topics at monthly QA meetings (2%)

    • Maintains copy of laboratory procedure schedule and monitors the annual review process (2%)

    • Prepares QC materials for use in the laboratory (i.e. temperature charts, bleach rite, PM charts) (2%)

    • Perform all duties of a phlebotomist (2%)

    • Maintains chemical inventory spreadsheet (1%)

    • Maintains instrument inventory spreadsheet (1%)

    • Maintains thermometers via calibration or replacement (1%)

    Relationships/Authority:

    • Reports to Phlebotomy Chief Supervisor. Generally works independently, seeking guidance from laboratory Supervisors.

    8. May be required to rotate shifts, will be required to work weekends, holidays and on call as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Education/Experience:

    • AS and one (1) year laboratory experience preferred, or

    • Two (2) years Laboratory Science and technical training closely related to this position, or

    • A combination of formal training and experience equivalent to the above

    • Minimum of two (2) years SMH Phlebotomy Operational Experience

    Pay Range

    Pay Range: $ 18.50 - $ 24.05 Hourly

    The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
