  • The PMO Program Manager will be outcome focused and responsible for successful portfolio and resource planning of their unit as well as program planning and execution of their programs. The Program Manager has strong relationships and deep understanding of all projects in their portfolio. The Program Manager will manage and mentor project managers, both inside and outside of the PMO.

    The Program Manager will drive all aspects of larger projects and programs of related projects, to ensure all projects and programs are completed on time and within their specified budgets. The Program Manager will also contribute to the development and continuous improvement of PMO standards. .

    Making an Impact

    Inspire and lead a team of IT Project Managers to deliver NAIT priorities and to better align technology and applications to our business goals, ensure the team has the right capabilities to meet fast-changing business needs.

    Oversees the execution and monitoring of programs as assigned by the PMO Director to drive new innovative programs or to perform operational improvements. Aids in the strategic goals of NAIT with excellent communication skills that enable program and portfolio success.

    • Develops training and mentoring plans for their staff of Project Managers.

    • Provides constructive criticism and their staff demonstrates consistent growth.

    • Manage larger projects and programs of related projects

    • Responsible for managing interdependencies between projects within the program in order to realize specified benefits. Have a strong understanding of all the projects in their unit and be able to speak fluently to the objectives, both from an IT execution and business goal standpoint.

    • Is able to take over any project in their unit at any time, demonstrating knowledge and understanding of the major systems, business objectives, and players.

    • Takes personal responsibility to have projects in their program executed on time, under budget, and to specifications.

    • Works with all PMs (within and outside the functional unit) that are executing projects in their portfolio to ensure that they know what to do and are doing it properly.

    • Works closely with other Program Managers on cross-functional projects as evidenced by successful forecasting and execution of those projects.

    • Create tactical processes, templates, and system configuration to be used in the project lifecycle.

    • Ensure project release plan and schedule that is coordinated and well thought out; aligns with operational work being conducted in IT.

    • Manage project portfolio for projects in their unit

    • Ensure their portfolio of projects are being executed per proper processes

    • Has an eye on projects for their portfolio that are in the project request / intake queue.

    • The projects in their portfolio are successfully closed and transitioned to operational support.

    Sharing Expertise

    • Works in collaboration with all departments and NAIT teams to ensure the centralized governance. Collaborates on executive-level strategic projects and engages in strategic partner performance, infrastructure and operation services portfolio health and project delivery.

    • Delegating projects on their team to employees best positioned to complete them

    • Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the initiative

    Gaining Exposure

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with Vendors and Stakeholders.

    Your Typical Day

    • Manage programs and interdependencies between projects

    • Provide oversight to projects

    • Lead coordination and communication with stakeholders and vendors

    • Periodic US travel for projects and meetings may be required-

    Other accountabilities as assigned

    Required

    ? 10 years of combined project and program management experience, utilizing project management methodologies.

    ? 3 years of PMO process development experience

    ? 2 years of directly managing staff

    ? Strong understanding of project portfolio management

    ? Understanding of the Project Management Institute (PMI) framework

    ? Knowledge of various project management methodologies (e.g., waterfall, SDLC, agile/scrum)

    ? Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of tools, including Excel, Project, and PowerPoint

    ? Experience leading significant IT Transformational initiatives for large, complex organization

    Nice to Have

    ? PgMP or PfMP certifications

Employees may work virtual some of the time depending on role (1-2 days per week).
