    Primary duties are to utilize advanced-level engineering skills to contribute to the development and qualification of battery systems, especially low & high-power electronics.

    This position requires strong cross-functional communication skills and analytical expertise to help launch new, exciting, and innovative solutions that meet user needs in a fast-paced environment.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Product Development

    • Act as technical lead with respect to product quality, reliability, user requirements, and warranty information for new product designs and engineering changes

    • Act as a subject matter expert in power electronics design for reliability techniques

    • Analyze, draw conclusions, report, and present product information utilizing statistical techniques such as Weibull analysis, reliability distributions/matrices, and reliability models.

    • Ensure timely failure reporting and lead root cause analysis and effective corrective/preventative actions (FRACA)

    • Support Advanced Engineering activities targeted at Critical-to-Quality needs

    • Carry a systems mindset with awareness of how different cross-functional teams contribute to the development of products.

    • Support development and refinement of tools and processes for execution of system engineering practices within an agile/high-velocity product development environment.

    • Lead system requirements definition and documentation from voice of customer, business, and regulation.

    • Lead the development of system verification and validation strategies keeping in mind project schedules and ROI. Strategies may include reliability allocation, FMEAs, physics of failure based accelerated life test, component/sub-system/system level testing, etc.

    • Establish work instructions, test procedures, and best practices for global test labs.

    • Establish and maintain a strong awareness and database of competitive offerings, product strategies, and business climate to help shape a best-in-class product roadmap.

    • Interact with global cross-functional teams and suppliers that participate in product development.

    • Serve as a role model of Milwaukee Tool's culture while mentoring, guiding, and coaching junior engineers.

    • Quickly, effectively, and candidly frame-up and escalate business risks/opportunities up, down, and across the organization.

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or related engineering field and 10+ years of experience in design/validation/reliability OR a Master of Science Degree in Electrical or related engineering field and 8+ years of experience in design/validation/reliability.

    • Proficient in systems thinking and application to engineered systems.

    • Excellent problem-solving skills, exercises independent judgement, and works well under pressure in a dynamic environment.

    • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels with creative problem-solving capabilities

    • Ability to travel 10% of the time (domestic and international).

    • Experience must include:

    • New product commercialization processes emphasizing design, manufacturing, quality, test, and/or reliability activities

    • Proven experience leading a primary function within a project team.

    • Design, development, and verification of power electronics

    • Design of Experiments, life data analysis, and other related statistical tools and software (i.e. Minitab, Reliasoft)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with IC/Semiconductor reliability, board reliability, display reliability, IC package types, board design, and layout.

    • Knowledge of methods to design in reliability for components including experience with the Sherlock software for electronics.

    • Knowledge of reliability warranty analysis and reliability prediction methods.

    • Knowledge and experience with HALT and HASS for electronic and/or electro-mechanical systems.

    • Experience with electrical stress testing, environmental stress testing, fatigue testing, vibration, and shock testing.

    • Experience with lithium-ion battery technology

    • Experience working with complex Battery Systems

    • Experience and commitment to design for reliability (DFR) principals.

    • Apply reliability failure physics to design accelerated test methods to failure modes exploration and reliability growth.

    • Working level understanding of industry standards - IEC, IEEE, ISO, ANSI, ASTM and JEDEC.

    • The ability and desire to achieve ASQ Reliability Engineering Certification (ASQ-CRE)
