    Platinum Group Metal Services (PGMS) is a leading refiner and recycler of precious group metals. The growing demand for low carbon and responsibly sourced products is creating growth opportunities in critical metals recycling and secondary refining, and as the world's largest precious metals recycler, PGMS is a key player in the circular economy.

    The Process Safety Engineer is responsible for leading and supporting the site's Process Safety Management strategies while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

    Your responsibilities:

    • Coordinates and facilitates process safety management through leading the site's Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)/HAZOPs programs in order to identify, evaluate and control potential hazards within processes including hazard identification, risk assessments, mitigation planning and project implementation, development of procedures, compliance auditing and compliance reporting.

    • Leads, manages and facilitates the completion of process hazard identification and risk assessments to develop risk management strategies for the facility by identifying potential or actual adverse process safety hazards.

    • Plans mitigation of process safety risks and manages projects to implement mitigation plans.

    • Reviews all MOCs for PSM related items. Ensure PSSR (Pre-Startup Safety Review) are completed for all Management of Change (MOCs).

    • Ensures that process safety related documentation for all identified hazards are developed and maintained. This includes reviewing and organizing P&IDs and PFDs as necessary.

    • Identifies process safety training needs and provides that training through in-house resources or external consultancy.

    • Acts as site point of contact for all process safety related matters and provides day-to-day advice & guidance on process safety issues.

    • Ensures that an annual program of PHAs are compiled and adhered to which includes the close out of actions related to PSM and the completion of annual site internal audits.

    • Provides engineering technical input into process hazard studies and capital projects.

    • Devises and implements PSM standards and incorporates best practices from other sites.

    • Leads investigations for PS related incidents at the site.

    • Carries out any other duties, which are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.

    Requirements for the role:

    • Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical Engineering

    • Minimum of 5 years of Process Engineering experience

    • Minimum of 2 years working in Process Safety field

    • Knowledge of applicable local PSRM regulations

    • Experience working with highly hazardous chemicals; toxic, flammable, pyrophoric

    • Knowledge of Process Safety methodologies and tools like Loss Prevention, LOPA, HAZOP, PHA, QRA

    • Ability to communicate passionately and effectively about process safety and impact the culture in a positive way

    • Ability to lead an effective team at various organization levels.

    • Able to build collaborative relationships to achieve JM goals

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Ability to construct and carry out diverse plans and priorities within specific timetables.
