Product Development Engineer

Actalent is currently hiring Product Development Engineers in the greater Kansas City area. Qualified candidates must have 3+ years of working experience in mechanical design with hands on problem solving capabilities. Experience with plastics and/or injection molding is highly preferred but not required. If you are looking to take a step up with your engineering career this may be the right fit for you!

Description

The Product Development Engineer is responsible for bringing new product ideas from concept to reality. They will be responsible for the design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation and estimating for new product designs. They will collaborate with design/purchasing and shop/assembly as well as project management teams on design work.

• Design, b uild, and update new and existing products.

• Cost the bill of materials for new and improved products.

• Design custom drawings and layouts as needed.

• Assist in maintaining and enhancing machinery.

• Determine means of manufacturing of new products.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology, preference given to mechanical or plastics engineering.

• Experience in new product design and development.

• Knowledge of plastics design for injection molding and rotationally molded components.

• High mechanical aptitude as shown through previous designs.

• Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.

• Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D modeling software (or equivalent)
