    Summary :

    This role is based in Houston and is not eligible for remote work.

    Reporting to ITW Car Care Quality and EHS Manager, this position will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing the regulatory and safety compliance program for the Car Care division to achieve product compliance globally. This includes continuous review of relevant directives, laws, and standards to ensure the compliance program is current, product risks are properly assessed and mitigated through design guidance, testing, auditing of completed compliance documentation, and maintenance of all stored compliance technical files. This role will also be responsible for working with all team members to ensure and maintain safe operations within the research and development laboratories of the division.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Supports the business and products with generation and keeping up-to-date the Safety Data Sheets, product registrations and VOC reporting requirements for US and international sales. Ensures SDS's are compliant and complete

    • Maintains current understanding of all regulatory requirements and current industry standards for our products, while also updating internal work procedures and standards to reflect these requirements. Communicates standards updates to the organization and provides periodic training. (including, but not limited to VOCs, Prop-65, CARB, EPA, and other regulatory entities).

    • Assist in achieving product compliance via the above understanding and setting direction based on regulatory requirements and risk assessments.

    • Collaborates with the design engineering team at all stages of development to provide guidance on the resolution of product and design issues to be compliant with international directives, laws, and standards in which the products will be sold. Review and approval of all compliance technical documentation for new and custom products. Document and communicate the project updates to internal customers and executives (if needed).

    • Supports product engineering from a regulatory standpoint for any changes made throughout the life cycle of the product (e.g. management of change process).

    • For all products, collaborates with the development team, customers and external labs, reviewing design data and creating final analysis and reports of validation of product compliance (e.g. Consumer Testing Labs and key customers).

    • Assist in the development and deployment of human safety risk assessments for the Company's ingredients and products, with an emphasis on applying novel and traditional approaches to toxicological risk assessment.

    • Ensure that high-quality Raw Material safety reviews, formula safety assessment, and safety testing assessments are conducted, including those that originate from Third Party Manufacturers and Outside Vendors (TPM/OV).

    • Lead and develop strategies and processes of assessing the safety of ingredients that having limited toxicological data.

    • Stay current with the scientific progress in product safety related fields and apply new concepts and methodologies to support the use of novel ingredients.

    • Build an understanding of toxicological issues impacting the Company's ingredients and products.

    • Communicate internally and to business partners on risk assessment outcomes and provide guidance on risk management where appropriate

    • Work with the local laboratories in both Houston, TX and Lakeland, FL to ensure EHS measures are being met, tracked and documented for each R&D laboratory

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a science, technology, mathematics or related discipline from an accredited institution

    • Three to five (3-5) years, or more, of combined work experience in a product steward, regulatory, product development or engineering role

    • Minimum two years of experience creating safety data sheets (SDS) required

    Additional qualifications that could help you succeed further in this role:

    • Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills

    • Excellent communication and organizational skills, both verbal and written.

    • Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT), preferred

    • Prior experience with product development, product testing and project planning

    • Directive/law experience:

    • OSHA

    • Prop 65

    • CARB

    • Consumer Product Safety Commission

    • EU Waste Management Directive (RoHS/WEEI/REACH).

    • Automotive aftermarket background
